![]() Sgt Pepper was officially released on 1 June 1967 and was immediately hailed as the band's masterpiece, with some critics claiming that it was the first "concept album".The concept, of course, is that the record was to be recorded by the titular fictional band, a washed-up rock’n’roll group on the comeback trail. Paul McCartney says in his introduction: "It’s crazy to think that 50 years later we are looking back on this project with such fondness and a little bit of amazement at how four guys, a great producer and his engineers could make such a lasting piece of art." The editions are already available to pre-order on Amazon, in advance of their release on 26 May. The reissue will also be available as a remastered CD, an expanded 2-CD set with a 50-page book and double 180-gram vinyl set. Pepper, a newly restored 1992 documentary film.
